The Moorhead High School Speech Team sent nine speakers to this year's national tournament in Dallas, TX. Of those, seven advanced to the Octa-Final round of competition (top 60 in the nation). Those speakers included senior duo Maddy Timm and Adam Bakken, senior HI Rachel Rossen, senior DI Laurel Mikkelson, sophomore duo Skyler Klostriech and Abby Dahlberg, and sophomore OO Jessica Anderson. On Tues. June 16, after eight rounds of competition, Jessica Anderson advanced to the Quarterfinals (round of 30). The next morning, Jessica spoke in two Quarterfinal rounds, earning a spot in the semifinal round (top 14) where she spoke two more times. Overall, she missed the final round cut by less than 10 points and finished an amazing run in 9th place. Her finish also guarantees a spot in next year's national tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The team was also awarded the Speech School of Excellence Award, given to the top 20 speech schools in the nation. This is the 7th consecutive year MHS has won the award.

Additionally, Head Coach Rebecca Meyer-Larson was awarded her 4th diamond, accumulating more than 10,000 points over a minimum of 20 years of coaching.

Congratulations to all speakers and coaches for a great season!
